Institute of Couriers accolade for former operations director Yodel.

A rare life services hood was confirmed and placed on the shoulders of the 2023 National Courier Award winner, Carl Moore at the 2024 IOC fellows' gowning event at the House of Lords.

February 29th 2024, leap year date for the Institute of Couriers fellows' gowning was an evening to remember, with a rare life services gold hood awarded in what has become the express final mile event of the year.

Carl Moore was announced life services winner at the 2023 National Courier Awards; he attended the House of Lords IOC gowning ceremony to receive his life services hood in front of fellow winners, the President, Lord Peter and the hon fellows of the Institute of Couriers.

Almost two decades at the top of the sector. Carl Moore has been COO level for at least the past 18 years of his 40 year career. He celebrates a life in carriers - ANC, Lynx Express, UPS, FedEx, TNT and UKMail.

Carl Moore is an individual who has had an extraordinary life journey. Almost four decades in the express final mile industry. Starting as a van driver in the early eighties, his first goal was to achieve an HGV One licence. Earlier on in his career he was ambitious and worked tirelessly to prove himself. From road to office he followed a career path that would take him all the way to the most senior positions; almost two decades at the top of the sector with ANC, Lynx Express, UPS, FedEx, TNT and UKMail.

Leading some great operational teams and achievements, whilst ensuring that every internal stakeholder from senior leadership right through to the colleagues out on the road delivering parcels had the same clear objectives, paramount to success of delivery.

2024 The new – 24 senior IOC fellows gowned at House of Lords

Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill gowned life services fellow Carl Moore, a new hon, Heathrow Chief of Staff Nigel Milton and placed hoods on the leap year, two dozen of 2024

Hon fellows on stage to welcome the new, Vice Chancellor Peter John, Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell & Alderman Alison Gowman received the 2024 hon, Heathrow Airport boss Nigel Milton.

Shadow Minister for Skills, Seema Malhotra was on the terrace to congratulate the sector for its engagement with the apprenticeships in express logistics, driver, sortation and the new degree candidate starts for express manager.

With Viscount Lord Falkland emeritus and the new president elected, the ceremonial gowning began for new fellows, a new double dozen on the terrace of the House of Lords on the leap year of 2024 for April 29th.

IOC chairman Carl Lomas MBE explains, ‘Thursday April 29th, the ceremonial gowning of Fellows of the Institute of Couriers in the second year of the reign of King Charles III. Current senior fellows of the Institute proudly stood in the traditional welcome line to congratulate the new.

For 2024 this included the new President, Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill. 200 guests witnessed the IOC board and the vice presidents, former transport ministers, Sir John Hayes CBE, Steve Norris and David Jamieson welcome the new.

Prof Peter John CBE, introduced the Honorary fellow, Nigel Milton elected to the Institute for 2024. Nigel Milton, chief of staff Heathrow airport delivered the key note speech focused on freight in the air moving to door by express sector.

IOC CEO, Dr Tracey Worth, ‘Invited VIP guests include DfT, DEFRA, DfE and DVSA amongst regional bodies including TFL, TFWM and TfGM, National Police and Army represented by Royal Logistic Corps. Members of the IOC board led by former City of London corporation director, Carolyn Dwyer with Melanie Stancliffe, William Jenkins, Callum Macpherson, Paul Sainthouse & David Stringer Lamarre. Honorary Fellows, Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell, Alderman Alison Gowman, Leon Daniels and Mike Brown all welcomed the new.
