Qualifications
The qualification – International Trade and Services

The Level 2 Qualification is for someone who’s a job involves assisting in the organisation of the import and export of goods. They must show a sufficient level of competence to complete 6 mandatory units plus 1 out of 3 optional units to gain this award. The qualification includes health and safety in the workplace plus your ability to work effectively with customers and handle information. It then covers the technical competences required to carry out the tasks involved with organising the international movement of goods.

The Level 3 Qualification is for someone whose job involves organising the import and export of goods. This qualification therefore builds on the level 2 qualification. They must show a sufficient level of competence to complete all 8 mandatory units plus 1 out of 4 optional units to gain this award. The qualification includes health and safety in the workplace and building positive relationships with colleagues and customers by communicating effectively. It then covers the technical competences required to plan, organise and evaluate the processes involved with the international movement of goods and manage the resources that are required.

The Level 4 Qualification is for someone whose job involves managing an international freight forwarding operation. This qualification therefore builds on the level 3 qualification. They must show a sufficient level of competence to complete all 8 mandatory units plus 1 out of group 1 of 4 optional units and 1 out of group 2 of 3 optional units to gain this award. The qualification includes monitoring health and safety in the workplace and building positive relationships with colleagues and customers by communicating effectively. It then covers the competences required to maintain, control and improve the services, products and systems within the organisation for the benefit of the business.

Candidates at either level are encouraged to achieve as many units against which they can demonstrate competence, not just the minimum number of units required for a full award .
